Water Damage to Laminate Flooring
SERVPRO of Thousand Oaks arrived at the loss that had laminate flooring in the kitchen. When laminate flooring is affected, it cannot be salvaged. Our tech knew that we needed to remove the flooring. Laminate flooring can withstand a small amount of water on top of it unfortunately when water intrusion happen water goes underneath the laminate flooring. Once the water reaches under the laminate flooring the wear layer begin to de-laminate from the top of the board. Even if you try to complete drying, the laminate flooring will never return to its original dimensions, which makes it unsalvageable. SERVPRO will need to remove the affected floorboards and leave the unaffected floorboards in place. The reason the unaffected laminate flooring will be left just incase the flooring is able to be matched. In the after photo, you can see the crew taped off the edges of the flooring for safety measures. There is a vinyl flooring that was covered by laminate flooring that our crew was able to dry out. Call SERVPRO of Thousand Oaks for any of your water mitigation services.
